HCMC – The Ministry of Health has confirmed 41 fresh Covid-19 cases, with 34 patients in Danang City, four in Lang Son, two in Bac Giang and one case imported, taking the country’s total number of Covid-19 cases to 713 as of tonight, August 5.
The six patients in Bac Giang and Lang Son provinces, aged between 10 and 41, are reportedly linked to Danang City as they had earlier visited the central coast locality, which is now Vietnam’s largest coronavirus hotspot. They are receiving treatment at the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases in Hanoi City.
The imported case, a 44-year-old man, returned to Vietnam from Russia through HCMC-based Tan Son Nhat International Airport on July 11. He was sent to a centralized quarantine center in Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province after his arrival. The patient is being treated at Ba Ria-Vung Tau Hospital.
Among the 34 new cases reported in Danang City, 14 patients had come into close contact with previous Covid-19 cases at Danang Hospital, 10 others are patients at the hospital and seven cases are caregivers.
One of them is a medical worker at Danang Maternity-Pediatrics Hospital, while another case is a police officer in charge of guarding a hospitalized prisoner at the Renal Endocrinology Department of Danang Hospital, and the remaining one case is a resident of Lien Chieu District.
Two northern provinces of Bac Giang and Lang Son are new localities to have discovered new cases of Covid-19, bringing the number of virus-hit localities in Vietnam to 11 to date, said Nguyen Thanh Long, acting Minister of Health.
He made this announcement at a ceremony held this morning, August 5, to receive 500 ventilators worth VND120 billion. The equipment was donated by Van Lang University and some other donors to hospitals to fight against Covid-19, Tuoi Tre Online reported.
