Vietnam’s Covid-19 deaths exceed 100

HCMC – The Ministry of Health has since last night, July 6 reported eight more Covid-19 deaths, raising Vietnam’s coronavirus death toll to 102 cases up to now.

Three Covid-19 deaths reported last night were elderly people with underlying health conditions.

The 95th death is a 68-year-old resident of HCMC’s Binh Chanh District. She was admitted to the Binh Chanh District Hospital on July 1 after testing positive for the coronavirus the previous day.

Her health condition worsened as she experienced acute respiratory failure, severe pneumonia, severe hypokalemia and Covid-19. On July 3, she died of pneumonia caused by Covid-19, progressive respiratory failure, suspected acute myocardial infarction or a pulmonary embolism.

The 96th death is a 64-year-old resident in the Mekong Delta province of Dong Thap. She died on July 4 due to severe pneumonia caused by Covid-19, progressive respiratory failure, heart failure, type-2 diabetes, hypertension and Cushing’s syndrome. She had a medical history of type-2 diabetes, hypertension and adrenal insufficiency.

The 97th death is also a 64-year-old resident from Dong Thap. He died of pneumonia caused by Covid-19, progressive respiratory failure, heart disease and hypertension. He was pronounced dead on July 4.

Regarding the remaining five deaths reported this morning, four of them are residents of HCMC and did not have underlying health problems.

Specifically, the 98th death is a local woman in the northern province of Bac Giang who had suffered from hypertension and diabetes earlier. The 67-year-old woman was confirmed to be infected with Covid-19 on June 3 and was taken to the Bac Giang Lung Hospital before being transferred to the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases in Hanoi on June 13. She died on July 5 due to septic shock, multi-organ failure, a heart attack, severe pneumonia caused by Covid-19, diabetes and hypertension.

The 99th fatality is a 49-year-old man of HCMC. He received medical treatment for Covid-19 at the Pham Ngoc Thach Hospital and died on July 2 due to Covid-19, septic shock and acute kidney injury.

The 100th death is a man from HCMC as well. He tested positive on June 19 and was sent to the Pham Ngoc Thach Hospital. The 62-year-old man died on June 30 with his cause of death recorded as severe pneumonia caused by Covid-19, progressive respiratory failure, septic shock and type-2 diabetes.

The 101st case also died of severe Covid-19 and progressive respiratory failure. The 63-year-old woman from HCMC was announced dead on July 1 after testing positive on June 24.

The 102nd death is a 56-year-old man from HCMC who tested positive on June 24. He died on June 29 due to severe Covid-19, progressive respiratory failure, septic shock, multi-organ failure and acute coronary syndrome.

Overall, the country has reported 67 Covid-19 fatalities in the current fourth coronavirus wave, which began on April 27.
