HCMC – The Ministry of Health this evening, July 6, confirmed 504 fresh Covid-19 cases, bringing Vietnam’s daily total to 1,029 cases.
Four of the new cases were imported infections while the rest were domestic transmissions.
Among the locally-infected cases, HCMC accounted for the most, at 271 cases. Two southern provinces of Dong Thap and Binh Duong also reported a high number of cases, at 99 and 92, respectively. The remaining cases were detected in 10 other localities including Phu Yen, Long An, Nghe An, Bac Giang, Bac Ninh, Hanoi.
Of the total this evening, 462 cases were found in quarantine centers or areas under lockdown.
Also, 55 more coronavirus patients have fully recovered from the deadly disease and were discharged from hospital today, raising the country’s recoveries to 8,077 cases.
In related news, after Quang Ngai Province discovered a vendor linked to Quang Ngai wholesale agro market tested positive for Covid-19 through rapid Covid-19 testing, Phuc Hung private general hospital related to this case was immediately put under lockdown this afternoon, Tuoi Tre newspaper reported.
The vendor often visits the Quang Ngai wholesale agro market to buy goods for retailing at Ba To Town market in the province. On being notified that a truck driver who usually visits the wholesale market tested positive for the coronavirus this morning, the vendor went to Phuc Hung hospital by herself to declare her health status and undergo a rapid Covid-19 test this afternoon. Her testing result came back positive.
Apart from the hospital, the Ba To Town market and her place of residence were locked down. The local health authority has conducted Covid-19 tests for people having direct contact with her as well as looked for other relevant people.
The central province expected that residents in these locations will proactively make health declarations and take rapid Covid-19 tests like the vendor to help prevent the spread of the disease.
Since June 26, Quang Ngai has reported 132 local infections in the fourth coronavirus wave. Of them, two are in severe conditions.
