HCMC – The roof of a house under construction in Dong Hung District in the northern province of Thai Binh collapsed on August 20, killing two workers and injuring two others.

The competent agencies are investigating the accident, which occurred at 5.00 p.m., the authority of Hong Viet Commune in the district announced on August 21.

The under-construction house belonged to Nguyen Quang Phong, a 63-year-old man, who lives in Hong Viet Commune’s Quan Thon Hamlet. While a group of workers were in the process of completing the roof, the roof’s edge suddenly collapsed, causing the four building workers to fall from a height of eight meters.

The four workers were self-employed laborers and had yet to sign any labor contract, the Thai Binh Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs said, adding that they were not wearing protective equipment as mandated by labor regulations.

The police of Dong Hung District are cooperating with other competent agencies to determine the cause of the incident, Thanh Nien Online reported.
