HCMC – The HCMC People’s Council has approved a resolution waiving tuition fees for all K-12 students in the 2025-2026 academic year, including those in continuing education programs.
The resolution, passed on February 20, expands on a previous plan to eliminate fees for secondary school students, ensuring broader access to education across all levels.
The policy applies to both public and private school students, as well as preschool children under five years old.
City officials stated that the initiative aims to remove financial barriers to education and is part of the celebrations marking the 50th anniversary of Vietnam’s reunification in April 2025.
The city government has allocated VND653 billion for the program, with VND423 billion designated for public schools and VND230 billion for private institutions.
