HCMC students return to school next week

HCMC – Students in HCMC will return to school from May 4 after a prolonged break due to the impact of the coronavirus pandemic, with resumption dates linked to grades.

The municipal government has approved a school resumption plan presented by the HCMC Department of Education and Training.

According to the municipal government’s announcement, ninth and 12th graders are allowed to return to school on May 4 and will practice precautionary measures for Covid-19, the disease caused by the new coronavirus, with their teachers. Regular classes will start the following day.

Students from the fourth to eighth grades as well as 10th and 11th graders will return to school on May 8 and start classes from May 11.

First to third graders will head back to school on May 11 and attend regular classes the next day.

Kindergarteners will resume learning activities between May 18 and June 1.

The city’s departments of Education and Training,  and of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs were tasked with mapping out detailed plans for school resumption, including guidelines to ensure effective steps will be taken for Covid-19 infection prevention and control.

In related news, local authorities in the Central Highlands province of Daklak and Ba Ria-Vung Tau, Dong Nai in the south on April 28 announced their school reopening plans, allowing students to return to school from May 4. Each grade will open on a different date.

The administration boards of many universities nationwide also made a similar move this morning, April 29. Undergraduate and postgraduate students of the Industrial University of HCMC, Can Tho University, Hue University and many others will gather at school from May 4.
