HCMC rejects rumor of seven-day travel ban

Must read

HCMC – The HCMC steering committee for Covid-19 infection prevention and control yesterday evening, August 12, rejected a rumor circulating on social media that the city will prohibit residents from travelling for seven days.

On Thursday morning, some social media users spread information that people in HCMC will have to stay at home, their office or factory for seven days without stepping out, starting from 8 a.m., August 16.

The news also stated that the country will only have 3.2 million doses of the Covid-19 vaccines from now until the end of August.

The HCMC steering committee for Covid-19 infection prevention and control said this is fake news and residents should not spread misleading or baseless information. They should stay updated on anti-pandemic measures and the development of Covid-19 on official news websites only.

The authorities are identifying the source of this fake news and will strictly sanction the spreaders.

Residents in not only HCMC but some other cities have been negatively affected by this rumor.

Chairman of Nha Trang City Nguyen Sy Khanh said anti-pandemic measures in the city remain unchanged and the rumor of a seven-day travel ban is incorrect.
