Ru Cha is the name of a unique primeval mangrove forest in Thuan Hoa Village, Huong Phong Commune, Hue City.
About 15 kilometers from the city downtown, Ru Cha is known as the only mangrove forest that still exists on Tam Giang – the most extensive lagoon system in Southeast Asia.
Ru Cha, which has a total area of about five hectares, attracts visitors thanks to its primitiveness and its name. According to local people, “Ru” means “forest,” while “Cha” is the most typical tree here, accounting for more than 90% of the forest.
Walking out and about along paths winding through the forest surrounded by Cha trees in strange shapes will inspire any tourist and photographer.
On the occasion of the ongoing fall season, Hue City is organizing a photo contest to call for natural environmental protection and sustainable tourism development. From now until October 15, photography enthusiasts can send their photos and video clips of Ru Cha, Con Te, and Tam Giang Lagoon (attractions in Hue City) to join the contest.
